Defender 90 Hardtop 3.0 D350 Mhev X-Dynamic HSE 3ST
Land Rover
The Defender Hardtop is Land Rover's commercial version of the Defender, with the rear side windows panelled in and the second row removed to create a flat, load-carrying rear compartment. It is classed as a commercial vehicle, which is the point: businesses that want a Defender get the VAT treatment and the tax position that go with a van.
The 90 Hardtop is the short-wheelbase three-seat version. Underneath it is the full Defender, with the same D350 3.0-litre straight-six mild-hybrid diesel producing 350 PS, permanent four-wheel drive, and the air suspension and terrain response hardware that give the Defender its reputation off road.
It tows 3,500 kg braked, the same as a full-size pick-up, which makes it a credible plant and trailer vehicle for businesses that also need something presentable at a client site. X-Dynamic HSE trim is close to fully specified, so this is the premium end of the commercial 4x4 market rather than a workhorse alternative to a pick-up.
